Proudly serving Loganville, GA and the surrounding area since 2010
I recently had the honor to restore and antique walnut cabinet for my customer who had just completed the renovation of a historic building. The building was used as the local doctors office for nearly a century in downtown Greensboro, GA. The last doctor who owned the property was a decorated WW II veteran who was a medic during the D Day invasion. He was the last surviving medic from that campaign. I can only assume that this cabinet was used for storing medical supplies.
Another recent project. We painted these two antique oak office chairs in an acrylic milk paint called "Linen". It's always nice to give an old piece a new fresh look. These two chairs were used in my customer's grandfather and fathers doctors office.
Here's a project that I recently completed for a customer. A mid century bedroom set that belonged to her parents, painted in Sherwin-Williams, "White Duck", pre catalyzed lacquer. The unique drawer pulls and knobs were painted in an Oil Rubbed Bronze color
This antique table is simple yet unique. It's solid walnut and was originally intended as a writing desk. After moving into her new home, my customer found it to work great as a kitchen island. We stripped and refinished the top, and painted the legs, aprons and drawer faces in an acrylic milk paint that matched the cabinets. It turned out to be a great scheme that preserved the original look and enhanced the piece to fit in with it's new surroundings.
I was asked by a local family owned furniture store to repair this dining table top. It was damaged in shipping from the manufacturer. A difficult repair and also a difficult color to match.
This Executive Desk was purchased on line and was delivered disassembled. When it was completely removed from the box and assembled, it was discovered to be damaged on the top front edge. A very common issue with RTA furniture. With so many people working from home now, desks are in high demand. Shipping it back and waiting on a replacement was not a good option. I was able to repair this on site so my customer could get back to work in her home office!
These dressers fell off of the truck upon arrival at the warehouse. They are part of a 300 room renovation at the Embassy Suites in Atlanta. I was contacted by the project manager for the procurement agent to repair them. Both had serious damage to the tops.
My customer was looking for an elegant desk to go in the office in her new home. She found this diamond in the rough at an estate sale. She purchased it knowing it had potential. It was rough, but her vision was great! It just needed a little TLC!
It must seem that I repair a lot of furniture pieces that were damaged by movers. I really don?t, but they usually make great projects to showcase. In this case, the top corner of this nightstand was broken off and the piece was missing. So I had to create a new one.
Like the Giant Redwoods, 10 Terminus Place Condominiums in Buckhead, rise to a grand height. This impressive Redwood slab cocktail table is a focal piece in the lobby on the main level. Everyone coming and going passes by it every day. It was in need of some attention, so I was asked to help. I refinished the top. Oh, the stories it could tell !
I didn't know that Rhodesian Ridgebacks were chewers. In fact, I didn't know much of anything about them at all. Their hallmark is the ridge, or stripe of backward growing hair on their backs. Another hallmark is their faithfulness and a strong protective trait for their loved ones. Although, "Luna" seemed to accept me in her owners home, she never let her guard down. She did lick my hand when I wasn't paying attention to her! I guess that was her way of thanking me for repairing the footboard!
This antique Morris Chair has been in my customers family for several generations. It belonged to a grandfather and was presented to him as a retirement gift from his job with a railroad. The chair had been passed between family members for years until finding it's final home. Along the way it had been somewhat neglected. It needed some attention and that's what I gave it. I repaired and restored the frame and had the cushions reupholstered. I was honored to be part of the story!!
When my customer called me and said that his light fixture had fallen, breaking the wooden parts, I never imagined that it was this large. It is roughly 30 inches in diameter and about 4 feet in length. It is quite heavy and when the chain holding it broke one night at 2 am, it made a terribly loud crashing noise. Fortunately it fell when everyone was in bed and not standing beneath it. It was very challenging putting it all back together. My favorite type of repair!
My customer wanted to update the look of her very functional 56 inch round dining table. A high quality, solid oak table that has served the family well for over twenty years, but was in need of a new finish and overall look. We decided on using a trendy finish with some gray tones. I chose to customize a stain using a combination of Weathered Oak and Classic Gray. I then top coated it with a dull rubbed effect lacquer. We think it turned out quite nice.
Here we go again! Another casualty as a result of a move. This side chair suffered a severed rear leg. Fortunately, I was able to glue this back together and do some cosmetic work to make the repair virtually undetectable. Good as new!
My customer has been in the process of furnishing her turn of the century home with unique pieces in a French country theme. She found an unbelievable deal on this Drexel Armoire that she just couldn't pass up. Unfortunately, the delivery team accidentally dropped it just before it made it inside. Luckily, most of the damage was confined to the upper right door. Fortunately, the repair turned out nicely and it is back in it's new home.
One aspect of what I do that I particularly enjoy is turning someones dream or idea into a reality. In this case, my customer had just had their basement finished to include a game room. This game table had been in storage for many years just waiting for the right time to be restored and enjoyed. They chose a warm gray lacquer which really helped to enhance the details of the table. I recovered the card playing surface in black felt to contrast. When the chips are down, you need to play well!!
When moving a grandfather clock from the 1700's, always remember that the head may not be permanently attached. The top of this antique clock fell off while it was being moved and it suffered significant damage to the pediment, finials, face, and the door. Not to mention broken side glass panels. This was the first really old clock that I have had to repair, and I knew that it had to look good. There's a first for everything. I guess it was just a matter of time!
Methylene Chloride is a potentially dangerous solvent. It is most commonly used in paint stripper. In fact, many retailers have voluntarily removed products that contain it from their shelves due to recent health concerns. However it is also used in many scented oil products including Plug In's! If you are using plug in air fresheners, be mindful that if the plug in is laid on it's side, it will leak. It removes just about any finish or paint in a matter of seconds.
This Baker pedestal table base suffered a broken leg in a move. My customer's husband started the repair before she contacted me by gluing the broken pieces. I usually cringe when I hear this. But when I noticed that screws had been strategically added, I commented that he had the right idea. She proceeded to tell me that he is an Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon, and this is how he repairs broken bones!! The glue job was fantastic. I just had to do some filling and some cosmetic work to finish it.
Puppies will be puppies! My customer's new Chocolate Lab, Eloise-aka Ellie or otherwise know as Trouble, decided to chew part of the decorative carving off of the face of their footboard. This one was a bit tricky due to the detail of the carving. The work was performed on site. It turned out well and most importantly, Trouble has been forgiven and is now off of the Naughty list. Just in time. You've got to love puppies!
My customer wanted to update the look of her bathroom vanity. She chose a warm blue color called Indigo Batik. I used Sherwin Williams pre catalyzed lacquer in a medium sheen. She also chose new white pulls for the doors and drawer face.
This unique end table was damaged in a move. The substrate is solid mango with natural bone and resin inlaid tiles. Fortunately most of the pieces were recovered, although shattered. Piecing it back together was challenging. This particular table was no longer available from the manufacturer. I think it turned out pretty nice, all things considered!
A good friend and long time customer of mine asked me to restore this old folding leg poker table. I said, "sure, I can do that". Well, I knew nothing about replacing the felt on the top. With a little research I found the original manufacturer and their instructions on how to do it. This piece had been out of commission for over 30 years, and was to be given to a college/army buddy as a house warming gift. It had to be done just right! It turned out great. "Never show them your cards"
Here are a few examples of repairs done on pieces that were damaged in a move. These repairs were made on site.
I was contacted by the Procurement Firm to repair this chair that was received damaged at a senior living facility. The back was badly broken on both sides. It was to be used in one of the common areas. This was a particularly difficult repair due to the upholstered inside and outside backs. It turned out nicely, and is back in service now.
These two antique pieces have been in my customers family since at least the late 1800's. Recent retirees, they are moving back home to South Carolina, where they will be taking over the day to day workings of the family cattle farm. The farm is located on property that was originally purchased by her family in the late 1700's. My customer has wonderful memories of growing up in and around the homestead. These pieces are sure to enhance the experience of coming home!
My customer entrusted me to restore the original finish on this magnificent card table. It was made by her great uncle, William White. Born in 1870, Mr. White was a carpenter by trade. In his later years he loved to create fine pieces such as this and give them to family members as gifts. This folding card table was presented to my customer's mother on the day of her Uncle William's 90th birthday in 1960. Truly masterful workmanship. See if you can spot the one error with the inlay. I couldn't
This drop leaf table had been out of commission for quite some time. Unbeknownst to us all, it was a real treasure just waiting to be discovered. Made be a company started in London in the mid 1800's by the name of Harris Lebus Furniture. By 1899, it was the largest furniture manufacturer in the world employing more than 1000 people. My customer had a great place in her home picked out for it and will be enjoyed by a very large family for many more years to come.
My customer just knew that this desk that she picked up at an antique store had potential beneath the old worn finish. The style in itself is quite unique. It fits perfectly in the bedroom overlooking the back yard garden area. This was a really fun project and a pleasant surprise when bringing it back to life.
This very functional set still has a lot of life left in it. The outdated Hunter Green was re painted in a custom color. "Ivory Lace" gives it an updated look and it now matches the customer's kitchen cabinets in their new home. Many more memories to be made around this table!
This customer had these provincial style nightstands stored in her basement for quite some time. She had a vision to have them restored and updated to be used in a spare bedroom. The idea was to create a look that would really pop. An acrylic Milk paint was used and some light distressing was done to accent the style and lines. The original drawer pulls were re painted in a flat black. Next is to find a matching dresser to complete the set. Pop they do !!
This oak and glass cabinet has been in my customers family since the very early 1900?s. In fact, the year stamped on the back of the mirror is 1909. It had spent the last few decades in basements and garages. When the time came to bring it back to life, I was eager to make it happen. However, the curved glass panels in the sides and door, caused more than a few butterflies and sleepless nights.
This unique rocking horse was hand made by a family member of my customer for her toddler aged son over thirty years ago. After he outgrew it, it was stored away in hopes of a future resurrection. Well, the time arrived with the birth of their first grandchild. The request was to replace the mane and tail with leather. With much help, I devised a plan. The head was reattached and the body was refinished. I am always honored to be allowed to transform peoples cherished belongings. Happy Trails!
The finish on this dining table top had begun to peel and flake off, and was generally looking worn after about twenty five years of use. My customer chose a Sherwin Williams custom color that gave the table a totally new and fresh look. I applied several coats of sealer after stripping off the old finish, then two coats of the new color. We were all very pleased with the results. Just in time for the Holidays!
This dining table top was gouged on the top near the end in several places. The accident happened during the installation of new hardwood floors in my customer's home. The areas were filled, carefully sanded and re stained to match the existing color. After applying the clear lacquer top coats, the finish was hand buffed to the proper sheen. Problem solved!!
My customers mother bought this set for her when she was little girl in 1970. It originally had Formica tops on all of the pieces. Roughly 20 years ago it was refinished from its off white color to a natural color and the formica tops were removed. She decided to have it all re done in a color similar to its original. I chose a pre catalyzed lacquer called West Highland White. After nearly 50 years, it has come full circle. It's a great quality set with many more years left to use and enjoy!
The piece is in the office of the Georgia Department of Banking and Finance, and is being used by the commissioner.. It was made by the Gunn Furniture Company of Grand Rapids, MI 1893-1953. In 1919 the company changed owners and became the Ivan Allen-Marshall Company, and then later changed names again to the Ivan Allen Company.
This antique mahogany china cabinet was the first piece of furniture that my customer purchased when he and his wife got married some thirty plus years ago. After an extensive interior renovation, this piece just didn't seem to fit anymore. Knowing that the versatility and functionality of this piece were going to be hard to find in another piece, along with the sentimental value, the decision was made to give it an updated look. I gave it a brand new soft white lacquer finish in a satin sheen!

This customer had a vision of transforming her Jasper Secretary Desk from a dark mahogany stain into a fresh off white lacquer. It always amazes me at how much this type of finish changes and enhances the look of a piece. After removing all of the hardware, doors, grills, and glass, the entire piece was sanded and prepped. Several coats of pre catalized lacquer were applied. The hardware was repainted to compliment the new look.

They were made in Bedford, OH around 1910 and had been in use in a credit union in Murray, UT until it closed it's doors due to the closing of the Smelting factory. The Thornton House. Built around 1790 in Union Point, GA. The house was first moved in the late 1960s by the Atlanta Art Association to a location behind the High Museum of Art in Midtown Atlanta.
